If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Beddgelert, Perthi sits above the village on our family’s working mountain farm — a 10-minute walk downhill through the fields into the village centre, with uninterrupted views across Eryri from all three cottages. We have a 17th-century stone watermill, a 17th-century Grade II listed barn, and a mountain lodge sleeping four. Here’s an honest guide to each one to help you choose.

Ty Felin – 17th Century Mountain Farm Water Mill
Sleeps: 2
Best for: Couples, romantic breaks, special occasions
Highlights: King-size bed, underfloor heating throughout, EV charger, sliding doors framing Eryri
Ty Felin is a 17th-century stone watermill converted in 2015 with a modern extension — underfloor heating throughout, a king-size bed, and a walk-in shower. The open-plan living area has large sliding doors that frame the Eryri mountains directly in front of you, which on a clear day is one of the best views from any room on the farm.
The original watermill machinery is still here. There’s an old long bar with a cog mounted on the wall in front of the mill, and around the side of the building you can still see the hole where the waterwheel once sat. It’s the kind of detail that makes the place feel genuinely historic rather than just old.
Ty Felin is the cottage guests come back to most — and more than one proposal has happened here. The EV charger is right next to the mill, available to guests in all three cottages.

Ty Hebog – 17th Century Mountain Farm Barn

Sleeps: 2 (plus sofa bed for a child or third adult)
Best for: Couples, walkers, anyone wanting genuine character
Highlights: Original beams and iron pegs, log burner, private patio with mountain views, new bathroom 2026
Ty Hebog has more character than anywhere else on the farm. Original wooden beams run across the ceiling, the old iron pegs from when it was a working barn are still visible on the walls, and the crog loft bedroom feels like it belongs in the building rather than having been added to it. A new bathroom with a walk-in shower was installed in January 2026 along with new flooring and a fully glazed patio door — genuine historic character with a properly updated interior.
The log burner is the centrepiece of the living space. A free basket of logs, kindling, firelighters and matches is provided — enough for the first night and usually into the second. There’s also full central heating throughout. In summer the thick stone walls keep the barn naturally cool, which makes it as comfortable in July as it is in January.
The private patio faces away from the farm buildings across open fields towards Moel Hebog — uninterrupted views, a table and chairs and a bench. The walk down to the village goes straight from the patio through the fields and woods, 10 minutes downhill. The chickens tend to wander over in the morning — don’t be surprised to find one looking in through the patio door.

Ty Pren – Homely Mountain Farm Lodge

Sleeps: 4 (one double, one twin)
Best for: Families, two couples, groups of four
Highlights: Floor-to-ceiling windows, uninterrupted mountain views, two bathrooms, dishwasher, bike storage
Ty Pren is the practical choice for four people — two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dishwasher, secure bike storage and a garden shed. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the open-plan living and dining area mean you see the Eryri mountains from wherever you sit, and the private patio has the same uninterrupted views. The wide-screen smart TV and fast fibre WiFi are there when you want them, but most guests spend the evenings looking at the mountains rather than the screen.
Having two bathrooms — a walk-in shower room and a separate toilet and basin — makes a genuine difference when four people are getting ready for a day’s walking. It’s a detail that sounds small until you’re sharing one bathroom between four people at 7am before heading up Snowdon.
Ty Pren has full central heating throughout and keeps its warmth well — guests who’ve stayed in winter are often surprised by how snug it is. It’s not a lodge that needs a log burner to take the edge off; the heating does the job properly.

What All Three Have in Common
All three cottages sit on the same working mountain farm above Beddgelert, with the same 10-minute walk through our private fields and woodland into the village. All have fast fibre WiFi, smart TVs, private parking, and access to the shared laundry room on site. Our water is UV-filtered and sourced directly from the mountain.
Every guest arrives to find homemade Welsh cakes with Welsh butter, Welsh Brew tea, Taylor’s coffee bags, a small bottle of milk, fairtrade sugar, and a small carafe of port. The Welsh cake recipe has done well enough to win at the Beddgelert Show.
The EV charger next to Ty Felin is available to guests in all three cottages — contact us in advance to confirm current rates. All three cottages are pet-free, open February to December and over New Year, with self check-in. Access is via a half-mile private concrete track, well maintained and suitable for all cars.
For walkers — you can summit Yr Aran directly from the farm with the right equipment, the Aberglaslyn Gorge and Cwm Bychan walk starts from the village, and we’re a 7-minute drive from the Rhyd Ddu path on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). See our full Beddgelert walks guide for 30 routes from the area.
