About Delyth & Perthi

We are a family-run business, and we feel incredibly lucky to call Perthi home. My husband, Dan, and I — Delyth— run three self-catering holiday cottages at Perthi, Beddgelert — Tŷ Pren, Tŷ Felin and Tŷ Hebog — which sit on the family farm above the village in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia), while living nearby in Waunfawr with our two daughters. As a Welsh-speaking family, we are proud to pass our language and local heritage down to our children and share this special corner of Wales with our guests.

The three cottages each have their own character. Tŷ Pren is a homely mountain lodge, Tŷ Felin is a 17th-century converted watermill, and Tŷ Hebog is a 17th-century converted barn. We do everything ourselves — the cleaning, the maintenance, the upkeep — so when something needs attention we try and get it done quickly.

Every guest arrives to find a batch of freshly made Welsh cakes, baked by me.  The recipe has done well enough to win at the Beddgelert Show, which I’m quietly proud of.

The land itself is farmed by my parents, Richard and Iola, who live in the farmhouse at Perthi. My sister, Bethan, farms alongside them and lives locally with her family. Farming has always been at the heart of Perthi and continues to shape the landscape and way of life you see here today. We are a traditional working farm with sheep and cattle, and you’ll usually spot our chickens roaming around too.Ram with mountain views

You’ll also likely meet our farm dogs — Meg, Kim, Gel, and Nansi — who are very much a part of life here.

We took over running the cottages from my mum in 2021 and have loved continuing what she started. Our aim is simple: for every guest to feel genuinely at home from the moment they arrive, whether you’re here for a quiet escape or a busy family holiday.

Why I Write About Beddgelert

My family has farmed in the Beddgelert area for generations, so when I write about walks, places to eat, or things to do locally, it comes from years of actually being here — not from a guidebook. I walk the routes myself, I know which paths get slippery after rain and which hillsides are covered in bluebells in May, and I know the village well enough to point guests towards the places genuinely worth their time.

All the local recommendations on this site are my own and are written with guests staying at our Beddgelert self-catering cottages in mind — though anyone visiting Eryri or Snowdonia should find them useful. You can find them in our things to do in Beddgelert guide — covering days out, places to eat and local tips — and in our Beddgelert walks guide with routes for all abilities.
