The space

The barn conversion has an entrance level where you will find the bathroom (walk-in shower), with three steps leading down into an open-plan kitchen and living area. The whole cottage has full central heating, alongside a traditional log burner. Above, there is a mezzanine-style “crog loft” bedroom with a double bed.

Outside, the private patio faces entirely away from the farm buildings, looking out across open fields towards the mountains. Nearby, you may see chickens wandering and sheep grazing in the surrounding fields.

As a 17th-century Grade II listed building, there are low beams in places — including the entrance, patio door, steps into the kitchen, and parts of the crog loft.

Guest access & logistics

  • Access & Parking: Half-mile private concrete track — well-maintained and suitable for all cars. Free off-road parking right next to the cottage through the gate.
  • Walking to the Village: 10-minute downhill walk via our private footpath through fields and woods. Walking shoes are recommended as paths can get wet after rain.
  • Alternative Walk: You can drive down our track to our lower parking bay for a shorter, flatter walk into the village (there is no pavement, so a torch is useful after dark).

Other things to note

  • Work & Connectivity: Wi-Fi is reliable fibre and suitable for streaming or remote work.
  • Water: Fresh, UV-filtered and sourced directly from the mountain.
  • Laundry: Shared washer and dryer available in an outbuilding next to the cottage.
  • Hiking: Summit Yr Aran directly from the farm gate (proper equipment required) or enjoy the scenic circular route over to the Craflwyn Estate.
  • The Coast: Beaches and coastal paths are just a 15-minute drive if the hills are in cloud.

Guests have easy access to a wide range of local walks through woodland, valleys and mountain landscapes, with routes suitable for all abilities. Explore our walking routes around Beddgelert and Snowdonia to help plan your days.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many guests does Ty Hebog sleep?

Ty Hebog sleeps 2 guests. A sofa bed in the lounge can also accommodate one child aged 5+ if needed.

What’s included in the cottage?

Ty Hebog includes all bed linen and towels, a well-equipped kitchen, and essential items such as washing-up liquid, cloths, and sponges. On arrival you’ll also find complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, a jug of milk, and homemade Welsh cakes with Welsh butter. We provide toiletries and a couple of toilet rolls to get you started, along with a starter supply of logs for your first night.

Is Ty Hebog suitable for babies or guests who prefer step-free access?

Ty Hebog isn’t suitable for babies of crawling age due to an open-tread internal staircase and changes in level. If you’re travelling with young children or need step-free access, Ty Felin or Ty Pren are usually a better fit.

Are there any low beams or character features to be aware of?

Yes — as a 17th-century listed barn conversion, Ty Hebog has low beams in places, particularly at the front door, the crog loft, and near the steps down into the kitchen/living area.

Is Ty Hebog pet-free?

Our cottage is pet-free. As we are a working mountain farm, you will likely meet our friendly working dogs and free-roaming chickens during your stay, but we keep the interior pet-free to maintain our high standards of cleanliness.

Is there parking at the cottage?

Yes — there is free private parking next to Ty Hebog, accessed via a concreted track.

Is the Wi-Fi good enough for streaming or remote work?

Yes — Ty Hebog has fast fibre Wi-Fi, suitable for streaming, video calls, and remote work.

Can we walk into Beddgelert village?

Yes — the village is very close. Perthi sits just above Beddgelert, and it’s around a 10‑minute walk down via a path through fields and woodland, and about 20 minutes back up. The path can get wet after rain, so walking shoes are recommended.

Where are the nearest shops and places to eat?

Beddgelert village is a 10‑minute walk through fields and woodland and has a well‑stocked local shop (Emrys House), four pubs that all serve food, Bistro Hebog, Glaslyn Pizza which is also an ice‑cream shop and café, Caffi Colwyn, and Ty Coets coffee shop. For larger supermarkets, Porthmadog is 20 minutes away with Aldi, Lidl and Tesco, and Caernarfon is around 35 minutes with Morrisons, Tesco and Asda.
